Every season I play with my high school mates on Yahoo Fantasy Basketball. This is our fourth season, and there's only two things that excites me with fantasy sports: the live draft and the trash talk.
Live draft is on Monday for me, and I would have to wake up rather early (because they're playing on U.S. times). Last season I auto-picked Elton Brand and Allen Iverson, so I have to say luck was not on my side that day. The season before that I picked up Chris Paul and pretty much dominated in points, assists, steals and free throw percentage. It's a mixture of luck and knowledge, risking on players who you think will have a career season or losing star players to injuries (*cough* Yao Ming) or ineffective trades.
The second thing is the trash talk, and this applies to the live draft as well. People laugh at me for picking Yao almost every season, yet I continue to show loyalty seasons after seasons. Strangely enough though the only season I didn't pick him (second season, 07-08) was the only season I won. So this season I'm confident that I can do well since Yao injured himself before draft day. Also during the season, I get smack talked by someone who had Wade during a career season when I'm sitting with 6 injured players. I'm pretty sure he was playing fantasy as well last season.
Anyways, this is just some random post, if you love internet and sports, fantasy sports (for other sports as well) could be exciting when you go to school the next day for destroying your friend during a weekly match-up. Unfortunately, most of us are scattered around the world after graduation, but I hope this tradition keeps on going at least for the next couple of years.
p.s. Ray Allen is still the best three-point shooter of all times!
